After being polio-free for 19 years, the Philippines has confirmed two cases of polio in as many days. The authorities said a five-year-old boy in Laguna, south of the capital Manila, had tested positive for the virus. The first case was a three-year-old girl from Lanao del Sur province
in the southern island of Mindanao. Health officials have unveiled the "End Polio Now"
campaign, which aims to administer polio drops to some 5.5 million children under the age of five.
