(Release date: January 17, 2020)
Our favorite buddy cops Mike Lowrey and Marcus Burnett are back in “Bad Boys for Life” for another action-filled and hilarious entertainment fare. Will Smith and Martin Lawrence are saving the best for the last time so here are 5 exciting new things about their reunion movie which hits the theaters on January 17, 2020!
5. Michael Bay is replaced by Belgian directors.
Michael Bay started out in the film industry as an intern with “Star Wars” creator George Lucas which inspired him to become a movie director. After finishing his post-graduate studies, Bay directed TV commercials and music videos which impressed producers Jerry Bruckheimer and Don Simpson. In 1995, they tapped Bay to direct his first feature-length film “Bad Boys” which became Will Smith’s break-out film role after his TV success.
4. DJ Khaled plays a brutal role for the first time.
For music buffs especially of rap and hip-hop, DJ Khaled is a royalty. From being a radio host and DJ, Khaled reinvented himself into a hip-hop artist churning out successful albums since 2006. His debut studio album “Listennn... the Album” earned gold certification. "All I Do Is Win," a single from his 3rd album, was certified triple platinum.
3. Original detectives Mike and Marcus are joined by 3 newbies.
If fans are excited to see Will Smith and Martin Lawrence reprise their roles as loose-cannon narcotics cops in “Bad Boys for Life,” expect triple excitement as three newbies are joining them. Injecting fresh vibes to the threequel are Alexander Ludwig, Charles Melton and Vanessa Hudgens as young members of a modern and highly-specialized unit of the Miami Police District whose methods lock horns with Lowrey and Burnett’s old-school crime-busting approach.
2. Detecive Mike Lowrey’s old flame comes back.
Will romance spark anew between Detective Mike Lowrey and his former girlfriend Rita in “Bad Boys for Life”? Well, exploring this romantic angle can be considered something new in this action-comedy franchise. In the 1995 and 2003 installments, it’s been established that Lowrey’s on-the-job partner Marcus Burnett is a married man.
1. This will be the last movie in the “Bad Boys” franchise.
Twenty-four years after Miami Police Department Detectives Mike Lowrey and Marcus Burnett were created for the big screen by American filmmaker George Gallo, they’re giving their last best shot in “Bad Boys for Life.” Yup, Will Smith and Martin Lawrence are hanging up their police badges for good, but not until their fierce characters take down a cold-blooded killer with a vicious, taunting nature who happens to be the a drug cartel boss in Atlanta.
